- To stimulate the local economy through the provision of much needed private sector jobs and the buying of goods and services from local businesses during the construction and throughout the planned 20 year life of the wind farm.
- To support the development of turbine component manufacture and assembly at Arnish Yard with the potential to export to serve the European renewables industry.
- To inject a significant amount of annual revenue into the local economy through rental/crofter payments direct to the communities.
- To create an opportunity for communities to take an ownership stake of up to 20% in the wind farm.
- To justify the grid connection that is so vital for a renewables industry to start up in the Western Isles, benefiting other projects and technologies for decades to come.
