Project Overview

Lewis Wind Power has applied to the Scottish Executive under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to construct a wind farm on the Isle of Lewis with an installed capacity of 651.6 MW and associated infrastructure. This consists of:

• 181 wind turbines, each with a foundation and crane hardstanding
• 141 km (88 miles) of access roads
• 8 electrical substations
• a control building
• 11 wind monitoring masts
• overhead lines and underground cable
• 5 rock source areas
• 8 temporary compounds
• 4 concrete batching plants.
