Project Overview
Lewis Wind Power has applied to the Scottish Executive under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to construct a wind farm on the Isle of Lewis with an installed capacity of 651.6 MW and associated infrastructure. This consists of:
- 181 wind turbines, each with a foundation and crane hardstanding
- 141 km (88 miles) of access roads
- 8 electrical substations
- a control building
- 11 wind monitoring masts
- overhead lines and underground cable
- 5 rock source areas
- 8 temporary compounds
- 4 concrete batching plants.
